Rockets Lose: 0 - 0
The 7th grade girls basketball season came to an end last night in East Kentwood against Pinewood. The Rockets came out victorious as they were led by the offensive explosion of Megan Barmes and Emersen Berndt. Barmes led all scorers with nineteen while Berndt was right on her heels with eighteen of her own. Olivia Harris survived a brutal choke hold, which resulted in no foul at all, to pitch in six of her own. Also getting on the scoreboard for the Rockets was the duo of Brooke Titus, who made a much needed comeback from injury, and Topanga Foster. Natalie Kunnen played tough on the boards and was assisted by Harris and Berndt. Meanwhile, the Rockets held fast defensively with Berndt leading the way with four steals. The girls finish the season with a record of nine wins and three losses; however, the greatest success was how much they grew as a team throughout the year despite the adversity of injuries and snowstorms. Congratulations, ladies.

It was defense that saved the day for the 7th grade Lady Rockets last night against the Sailors of Mona Shores. Berndt finished with thirteen points while Megan Barmes, Alyse Cox and Irelyn Niklasch each contributed timely buckets. Barmes led the defensive pressure with five steals while Olivia Harris, Cox and Niklasch all assisted in the team defensive charge with three steals apiece. Taking control on the boards was the tough play of Berndt who had a team high eight rebounds. The Rockets look to avenge an early season loss to the Big Reds at home on Wednesday.
