CoEd Middle School Track vs. Hudsonville Baldwin
CoEd Middle School TrackThe Rocket Girls track team closed out their season Monday night at the conference invitational meet where they competed against the best of the best from 18 other west Michigan schools. The Rocket girls represented RP well! Scoring points for the Rockets were the 400 meter relay team of Ava Pierce, Patience Sims, Makenna Anthony, and Sophia Hekkema placing 8th. Ella Klimza finished 8th in the high jump. Grace Goddell finished 7th in the 70 meter dash and 4th in the 100 meter dash. Madalyn Simpson finished 5th in the 100 meter dash. Allison McManus finished 2nd in the 55 meter hurdles and 3rd in the 200 meter hurdles. Sophia Hekkema set school records in both the 55 and 200 meter hurdles and placed first and conference champion in the 200 meter hurdles. Great job and great season ladies!

CoEd Middle School TrackThe Rocket guys closed out their track season last night in the conference invitational where they competed against the best of the best from 17 other West Michigan schools. Placing for the Rockets were: Parker Sweet taking 6th in the shot put, Jackson Larson placed 7th in the 100 meter dash and 5th in the 70 meter dash, the 400 meter relay team of Jezsiah Sims, Isaac Sanchez, Hayden Turnbow, and Jackson Larson took 4th place, Jake Pierce took 3rd in the shot put, and TJ Davis took 3rd in the 55 meter hurdles. TJ Davis also set the school record and took first place and conference champion in the high jump with a jump of 5’6”. Nice job guys.

Girls Green Softball vs. Grand Haven Blue
Girls Green SoftballYour Lady Rockets fell to the Grand Haven Buccaneers last night in a tough 13-4 loss. The Buccaneers answered right away with three on the board and our rockets answered back with one, same in the 2nd inning - which left us going into the 3rd inning trailing 6-2. At the bottom of 3, buccaneers scored another and the lady rockets answered back with one as well, making it 7-3. Our Rocket defense fell apart, making defensive errors allowing the Bucs to score 6 more in the top of 5. We did however make a couple of GREAT defensive outfield catches by center field, Natalie Kunnen; left field, Daisha Michael and right field, Shaylynn Merriman. Kaylee Jones helped our offensive game with a home run the top of 2 followed by Addi Novak and Taytum McCarty with solid singles. Your Lady Rockets go on the road Wednesday to play the North Muskegon Norsemen.

CoEd Middle School TrackThe Rocket guys and girls track teams closed out their regular season last night against a tough Grandville team. Both teams came up short but competed hard. First place finishers for the Rockets were: Jake Pierce in the shot put, Allison McManus in the long jump, Carsen Harwood in the both the 70 and 100 meter dashes, Grace Goodell in both the 70 and 100 meter dashes, TJ Davis in both the 55 meter hurdles and high jump, Sophia Hekkema in both the 55 and 200 meter hurdles, and the 400 meter relay team of Patience Sims, Ava Pierce, Makenna Anthony, and Sophia Hekkema. Girls Green SoftballYour RP Green lady Rockets weren't able to pull out the WIN last night against Fruitport. They were outscored 11-6. Megan Barmes pitched 4 1/2 innings striking out 4, Emerson Buzzell came in and pitched the remaining inning and a 1/2 striking out 3. Natalie Kunnen with a home run, hitting in Kaylee Jones and Megan Barmes scoring 3 in the bottom of 1. Kaylee Jones also contributed to the board with a triple, hitting in Emerson Buzzell in the bottom of 5. Following up solid single hits were: Taytum McMarty, Emerson Buzzell and Megan Barmes.

CoEd Middle School TrackThe girls and guys track teams were in action last night against a strong Mona Shores team. Both teams came up short against the cross town rival. Third place finishers for the Rocket Girls were: Allison Jakobi in shot put, Makenna Plummer in the 3200 meter run, Alyssa Herbert in the 400 meter dash, and Grace Goddell in the 100 meter dash. CoEd Middle School TrackLast Friday at a windy Rocket Stadium, the best of the best track athletes in Muskegon County competed against each other from 10 area schools in the Muskegon Area Middle School City Meet. The Rocket girls finished 5th overall and the Rocket guys finished 6th. The top 6 athletes in each event scored points for their team and earned a ribbon. Girls Green Softball vs. Montague NBC Middle School
Girls Green SoftballRP Green fell short against Montague last night, 10-6. Emerson Buzzell pitched a SOLID game with 7 strikeouts on the mound with Megan Barmes behind the plate protecting our 'HOUSE'. Kaylee Jones and Addi Novak were a GREAT defensive team and had several nice plays from short stop to 1st base that totaled 4 separate outs. Brookelyn Rought had an excellent catch for 2 outs in the top of 4. We held our own until the last inning - some defensive errors that caused Montague to jump ahead and score 5 in the last inning.

Girls Green SoftballThe girls RP green softball team traveled to Whitehall Monday night and pulled off the WIN! We started out strong offensively, but had some base running errors, however we held them defensively with a combination of strong pitching from Megan Barmes, Addi Novak and Emerson Buzzell. As well as a few key plays from the infield. Shaylynn Merriman had a GREAT hit to right field for a triple! Final score 12-9. Boys Middle School WrestlingThe wrestling team wrapped up their season at the City tournament. Reeths-Puffer placed 4th overall as a team. Girls 7th Basketball vs. Pinewood Middle School
Girls 7th BasketballThe 7th grade girls basketball season came to an end last night in East Kentwood against Pinewood. The Rockets came out victorious as they were led by the offensive explosion of Megan Barmes and Emersen Berndt. Barmes led all scorers with nineteen while Berndt was right on her heels with eighteen of her own. Olivia Harris survived a brutal choke hold, which resulted in no foul at all, to pitch in six of her own. Also getting on the scoreboard for the Rockets was the duo of Brooke Titus, who made a much needed comeback from injury, and Topanga Foster. Natalie Kunnen played tough on the boards and was assisted by Harris and Berndt. Meanwhile, the Rockets held fast defensively with Berndt leading the way with four steals. The girls finish the season with a record of nine wins and three losses; however, the greatest success was how much they grew as a team throughout the year despite the adversity of injuries and snowstorms. Congratulations, ladies.

Girls 8th BasketballThe lady Rockets traveled to East Kentwood Pinewood last night and came away with a tough one point loss 38 to 39. The ladies trailed by 7 at half and battled back but it was just not their night as they could not overcome the Panthers. The rockets ended the season with a great 8 and 4 record. They will celebrate their season with a pizza party tonight until 3:45. Girls 7th BasketballIt was defense that saved the day for the 7th grade Lady Rockets last night against the Sailors of Mona Shores. The Rockets were definitely not scorching the nets with their 8% from the field; however, big free-throws down the stretch from Emersen Berndt sealed the win in a closely contested game. Berndt finished with thirteen points while Megan Barmes, Alyse Cox and Irelyn Niklasch each contributed timely buckets. Barmes led the defensive pressure with five steals while Olivia Harris, Cox and Niklasch all assisted in the team defensive charge with three steals apiece. Taking control on the boards was the tough play of Berndt who had a team high eight rebounds. The Rockets look to avenge an early season loss to the Big Reds at home on Wednesday.

Girls 8th BasketballThe lady Rockets took on their rivals from crosstown Mona Shores last night. The ladies got off to a great start leading 10 to 4 after the first quarter and 18 to 13 at the half. Mona Shores cut the lead to 4 going into the 4th. The game was back and forth until Mona Shores hit a 3 pointer late in the game. The Rockets ended up losing by 6, 37 to 43. It was a tough loss for the Rockets but Coach Pallett is proud of the effort. The team plays at home versus Muskegon on Wednesday. Girls 7th BasketballThe 7th grade Lady Rockets simply ran out of gas last night against an undefeated squad from West Ottawa. The girls played extremely hard and were led by the tandem of Irelyn Niklasch and Emersen Berndt as they both had nine points to lead all scorers. Megan Barmes and Olivia Harris chipped in a few as well along with Carly Weinrick who hit two timely buckets. Niklasch and Berndt kept the Panthers off of the glass with six rebounds apiece while Michaela Beidler, Harris and Barmes took care of the perimeter with seven steals combined. Niklasch frustrated West Ottawa down low with six steals on her own. It's another big week of basketball next week with three home games against Shores (Monday), Muskegon (Wednesday) and Grand Haven (Thursday). Come support your Rockets!
